EMP = Electro-Magnetic Pulse.
There are several ways that an Electro-Magnetic Pulse can be achieved...
(1) Solar Flare + Coronal Mass Ejection (CME),
(2) Nuclear Bomb
(3) High-Altitude Nuclear Detonation
EMPs disrupt and/or destroy electronic components. (Well, that
is they disrupt and/or destroy UNprotected electronic components.)
