This is one of the biggest holidays in America. It's as big as Thanksgiving. In the evening of July fourth, there are generally fireworks on the ground and in the sky. The fireworks remind us of the war, which was fought for the freedoms that we cherish to this day.
Americans date the birth of their country from the Declaration of Independence, signed July 4, 1776. After that, war ensued and Americans didn't truly win their independence for many years. We thank France for their help in the war against the British. Yet, ironically, we currently have better relations with Britain than with France. Funny, huh? The Brits still call us Yanks, though. Even funnier. |
