Near Death Experiences

My review of Nyarko's art piece featured to the left:

Nyarko's artwork (to the left without any words on it) was created in 2006 and was entitled "Tunnel."  It is quite amazing.  I enjoy and appreciate how Nyarko has captured circular motion.  The title makes one wonder if Nyarko (from Ghana) hasn't had an NDE experience.  I would like to meet Nyarko and discuss the painting.  Is it something that he/she actually saw?

If you click on the image (to the left) you may go to the original posting of the artwork.  Or click here.

Preface:

Eureka!  After about a decade of intense study of the NDE phenomenon, I finally found the answers that I have been searching for regarding the discrepancies in worldwide NDEs!  I was so excited about this revelation that I instantly began to publish my findings here on Tuesday, July 29, 2014.  However, my study into the NDE phenomena has also provided me with quite a few NEW questions.  (I'll put those questions at the end or very bottom of this page).

I believe that the information you will read on this page, you have never read anywhere before!  Permission to copy and reproduce is granted, but please give credit where credit is due, otherwise you are plagiarizing.  Also, if you would, please link back to my web page.

What is an NDE?

Dr. Raymond Moody coined the term "Near Death Experience".  Basically, what it is is this:  A person dies, their spirit separates from their body and they have an experience in that state.  Then, they come back into their body, usually resuscitated by humans, but not always by humans.  Sometimes the resuscitation defies all logic and scientific explanation.

What is an NDLE?

Many people claim to have Near-Death-Like Experiences (or NDLE), without the dying part.  That's what I had...
Twice!

What is an OBE?

The OBE is an out-of-body experience.  This differs from the NDE in that the body does not die when the spirit separates, usually for a very brief period of time.  The OBE experience is sometimes similar to the NDE, but does not include as many of the same experiences.

NDE Statistics
According to Vince Migliore , the following statistics apply to NDEs:

Mr. Migliore takes his statistics from the International Association for Near Death Studies (IANDS).  [2001]

  • 787 NDE experiencers had been interviewed.

  • 54% had good, positive, blissful experiences.

  • 37.3% had mixed experiences.

  • 8.6% had bad, negative, and/or frightening experiences. *(see footnote)

There are some common elements of most NDE's, but everyone's NDE is different, almost as if it was tailored to the individual.

Footnotes:

* According to Dr. Kimberly Clark Sharp's research, as much as 14% of NDE experiencers have frightening NDE experiences (out of 2000 people interviewed).  [published on YouTube in 2009 but looks much older, like from the 1990's].

* According to IANDS' own website, there have been multiple studies reporting the following rates of negative/frightening NDEs:
17%,18%, 30%, 8.6%, and 15%.

I have taken the liberty of calculating the mean of all six statistics (14+17+18+30+8.6+15) ÷ 6 = 17.1%

More Info:

A large study conducted in the Netherlands showed that 18% of people who suffered a cardiac arrest and were clinically dead had later reported an NDE.

According IANDS' website, no two NDEs are identical and there is no element that is common to all NDEs.

My Own OBE or NDLE:
(OBE = Out-of-Body Experience)  (NDLE = Near-Death-Like Experience)

I saw Hell and I saw Heaven.

(Free of Charge, by the way!)

You must understand the things I was going through at the time.  I had graduated from university, but could not find a job in my field (teaching).  I ended up working as a bus boy making minimum wage (it was not enough to support myself), so I was living at mom and dad's, until my dad yelled at me for no good reason (Oh! I'm sure that in his mind he had a reason, but in my mind it was completely inane and I don't want to go into it.)  I moved out that same day, put everything I owned into the back of my Ford Escort and went far away to look for work in another state.

I had no decent job, no friends, no family, no girlfriend.  I had to work graveyard shift for minimum wage (again) and barely had enough money to pay for a room in a house.  I was in credit card debt up to my eyeballs and had no hope for a bright future.  So, what did I do?  Well, being a Mormon (at the time) I knew that suicide was out of the question, for I would go straight to hell.  So, every morning before I went to sleep, (remember I worked graveyard shift), I prayed that God would just take me in my sleep and put me out of my misery.  After about a month of praying thusly every morning and crying myself to sleep, I had an experience.  I'm not sure how to classify it.  Did I die?  I don't know.  But, I certainly left my body and appeared in a dark, dark place.  I didn't realize it was hell at the time (only when I awoke).  That was in 1993 (22 years before writing this) and I still remember the experience very clearly in my mind.

As I stated, it started with me in a very dark place.  I felt as if it had no boundary.  It was immense darkness and I could see no boundary.  Although there was no light source, I could see in this dark place.  It was like a wilderness of rock and soil, no plants or animals.  I walked along a pathway until I came to a river (there was only one path).  It was a deep and murky river, and it was quite wide.  I stood at the edge of the river for a long time wondering what to do next.  I don't know how long, but it was long enough for me to wonder what this place was and why I was there.

Then, as I looked to see what was on the other side of the river, I saw a dark, gossamer figure coming toward me in a boat.  Finally, he arrived at the shore and bade me board the boat, which I did, not really feeling like I had a choice.  I mean to go back where I had come from meant going into the dark void.

When we arrived at the other shore, he bade me disembark, which I did.  I walked around my new environment.  It felt as if it was to be my new home.  Nobody told me that.  It was strange how I just "knew" things.  I decided to become familiar with my new environment.  It was very dirty.  I mean there was garbage laying around everywhere and nobody seemed to care.  Yes, I finally became aware that there were others in this waste land.  All the people were engrossed in themselves.  Nobody paid me any attention.  They didn't even acknowledge my existence.  There were people of all walks of life, all races, and both genders.  I saw two people talking (about themselves mostly, complaining about their lives), and I went up to them and asked, "Where is my house?"  They just ignored me, as if I wasn't even there.

So, I began to collect materials to build my own house.  I collected dirty, crumpled up paper, cardboard, discarded boards, bent nails, anything that I could find laying on the ground.  After a while, I felt that I had collected enough materials.  Then, I needed tools.  I went looking for tools.  I asked, "Anybody know where I can get a hammer?"  Again, I was ignored.  So, I picked up a rock and used it to hammer in the nails.

After some time, it was finished.  It wasn't pretty, but it would serve it's purpose.  It would be my house, where I could retire to and be alone, if I wanted to.  So, I entered my newly constructed abode.  I felt good.  I was lonely, but I was the king of my own shack.

No sooner had I entered my shack and sat down to rest, but hundreds of people came running toward me.  My view was limited to the doorway of my shack, which had no door.  People came rushing in, screaming, fighting to be the first to come in.  They all wanted to have MY house that I had built with my own hands.  People got stuck in the door and I was horrified.  Some had come in and it was getting crowded, and I'm claustrophobic.  I began to scream, "Get out of my house!"

And I awoke so scared and sweating.

It wasn't until twenty years later that I would recognize the full significance of that experience; But at that time, I had enough sense to stop praying for death, because if that was where I was headed, then I didn't want to die.

Twenty years later

Approximately twenty years later, I had another experience.  This time, I'm pretty sure that I didn't die, but I'm convinced that I left my body.

I was in a beautiful, well-manicured town.  The flowers, the lawns, the houses, the gardens were all immaculate.  I walked along a pathway between the rows of houses, not a one the same as another, but all so beautifully constructed.  I knew exactly where I was going.  I was going to see my house that was being constructed for me.

I arrived at my house and it was gorgeous!  Just as I would want my house to be.  It had siding of beautiful redwood singles that just glistened in the light, almost as if each one had been shellacked.  There was a beautiful, covered entry way and a nice driveway.  I didn't see anyone, so I went to the side gate and walked into the backyard.  There was the guy I was looking for.  He was doing the backyard landscape.  He asked me how I liked it.  It was nice, but honestly I would have done things differently.  I wanted a stream flowing around my backyard with intermittent pools of water, one big enough to wade in, kind of like a Jacuzzi.  I pictured it as I wanted it in my head as I looked around; but not wanting to hurt my friend's feelings, I said, "It looks great!"  After all, it wasn't like I was paying him.  He was building the house for me out of the goodness of his heart.  So, I didn't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, you know?

He smiled and said, "Come back tomorrow.  I should be finished by then."

So, the dream/vision skipped to the next day, and again I was walking up the same path to my new house.  As I walked into the backyard, it was exactly how I had envisioned it in my mind!  It was perfect!  I thought, "Now, I could spend eternity in a place like this!"

And I awoke.

What did it all mean?

Upon awaking and pondering the experience that I had just had, I realized what the first experience meant twenty years ago.  At that time I was selfish and only thought of myself.  Furthermore, I was filled with ill-feelings toward my parents (mostly my father).  I was full of negative emotions, mostly feeling sorry for myself.  So, where did God send me?  To the part of hell with all the other selfish people who only thought of themselves and what the world owed THEM.

By the time I had the second experience, I had learned to be selfless, to stop thinking about myself and think about other people.  My life had become about others, not myself.  At the same time, I was much happier, full of love and forgiveness for all people who'd ever hurt me.

I was reminded of the scripture, "In my father's house, there are many mansions.  There I go to prepare a place for you."  And there he was, preparing a place for me.

You see?  In hell there are no houses or mansions, or any kind of personal abode.  You are abodeless.

My experiences (above) are explained by one man's NDE (below).

If God is a loving god,
why do people go to Hell?

Name Answer from his NDE
Arthur Yensen Arthur had a conversation with a being that looked like a Greek god during his NDE.  It went like this:

Yensen asked, "How do you explain this intense happiness?"

He answered, "Your thoughts are vibrations which are controlled by the Master-Vibration. It neutralizes all negative thoughts and lets you think only the good thoughts, such as love, freedom and happiness."
Yensen asked, "Then what becomes of the old grouches?"

He answered, "If they are too bad they go to a realm of lower vibrations where their kind of thoughts can live. If they came here, the Master-Vibration would annihilate them. After death people gravitate into homogenous groups according to the rate of their soul's vibrations. If the percent of discord in a person is small, it can be eliminated by the Master-Vibration; then the remaining good can live on here. For example, if a person were 70% good and 30% bad, the bad could be eliminated by the Master-Vibration and the remaining good welcomed into heaven. However, if the percentage of bad were too high, this couldn't be done, and the person would have to gravitate to a lower level and live with people of his own kind.

"In the hereafter each person lives in the kind of a heaven or hell that he prepared for himself while on Earth. If you threw a small pebble into a threshing machine, it would go into the box - not because it is good or bad, but because of its proper size and weight. It's the same way here. No one sends you anywhere. You are sorted by the high or low vibrations of your soul. Everyone goes where he fits in! High vibrations indicate love and spiritual development, while low vibrations indicate debasement and evil."

Religion and NDEs

There is a page by Jody A. Long, J.D., on the NDERF (Near Death Experience Research Foundation) website, which reports a survey study conducted by Jody, regarding religion before and after NDE.

I'm not going to reprint the data here; you can click on the link above and see the raw data.  What I find interesting is the numbers of people claiming religious affiliation BEFORE and AFTER the NDE.  The numbers increased for EVERY single religion including the category of "Spiritual" AFTER the NDE.  What does that tell us?

It tells us that the Being (or beings) in the afterlife did not mention the ONE and TRUE religion.  Nobody comes back from an NDE and says, "God told me to join ______ religion."  We can infer from that fact that God doesn't really care which religion we belong to.

It ALSO tells us that many people tend to go back to or become more involved in their own religion, whatever that may be.  Not all go back to religion.  Out of 280 participants 7 gave no response for their religious preference after the NDE.  However, interestingly, no one reported being an Atheist after the NDE.  NO ONE!  The 7 who gave no response probably hadn't accommodated the experience into their psyche yet and hadn't made up their minds.

The question is:  Why?  (i.e., Why do people go back to or become more involved in THEIR OWN religion?)

Well, Jody gives her conclusions at the end of her "paper".  She concludes that people's religion plays a BIG part in how people interpret their experience.  However, she notes that after people have had an NDE, they are less interested in the dogma of the religion and more interested in the spirit of the religion.  (Her words, not mine).

Since God doesn't care which religion we belong to, what DOES He care about?  To put it another way, what is the message from the other side?

Messages from the Other Side

Name

NDE Message

Jan Price Jan Price met a woman of "breathtaking beauty".  The woman told her:

"You have been only casually thankful for your gift of life. Be thankful each day for this great gift. Most people go through life never really appreciating it. The purpose of life is joy, and with spiritual understanding the physical senses are enhanced. Savor fully the loveliness of each experience. Self-awareness is the prayer of the heart, and to pray without ceasing is to play. Play with the joyful abandon of the child, absorbed in the delight of each moment. Let go of obligation and duty, and live for the pure joy of being."

and at the end of the visit:

"Remember, pray without ceasing. Play, love, laugh, live for the joy of it. Have fun. Happiness is holy."

Betty Eadie Betty Eadie met a being that she called "Jesus" in heaven was given answers to all her questions.  This is part of what she learned:

"Above all, I was shown that love is supreme. I saw that truly without love we are nothing. We are here to help each other, to care for each other, to understand, forgive, and serve one another. We are here to have love for every person born on Earth. Their earthly form might be black, yellow, brown, handsome, ugly, thin, fat, wealthy, poor, intelligent, or ignorant, but we are not to judge by these appearances. Each spirit has the capacity to be filled with love and eternal energy. At the beginning, each possesses some degree of light and truth that can be more fully developed. We cannot measure these things. Only God knows the heart of man, and only God can judge perfectly. He knows our spirits; we see only temporary strengths and weaknesses. Because of our own limitations, we can seldom look into the heart of man.

"I knew that anything we do to show love is worthwhile: a smile, a word of encouragement, a small act of sacrifice. We grow by these actions. Not all people are lovable, but when we find someone difficult for us to love, it is often because they remind us of something within ourselves that we don't like. I learned that we must love our enemies - let go of anger, hate, envy, bitterness, and the refusal to forgive. These things destroy the spirit. We will have to account for how we treat others."

Dee Rhoe Dee Rhoe saw a Bright, White, Light and merged with it.  The Light gave her so much knowledge.  Here is her summation of what she experienced:

"It was all ultimate Joy beyond any depth of feeling that I had ever had before or since -- and gave me a sense of, that life is a joyful game to be played and that everything will work out perfectly O.K.-- sooner, if played joyfully well, with love ... and later if not.

With trust and love, we win the game."

Arthur Yensen "To understand God, I believe one would have to be almost as great as God is. Or at least be like Christ who was in harmony with God. On the other hand, salvation is simple. All one has to do is to love so unselfishly that his soul-vibrations will rise high enough to fit him into heaven."

Why NDE's Differ So Much
NOTE: Science Now Has the Answer; But Scientists Don't Know It Yet.

Question:  Why do some people go to Hell or have hellish experiences during their NDE's, while other people go to Heaven-like places and have ethereal experiences?

Short Answer:  Click Here

Long Answer:  Keep scrolling

The answer my friend is in what all the great, ancient teachers have taught us, and is now verified by science.

First off, what did the ancients teach?

604 BC - 531 BC;  Lao Tzu (Lao Zi):
To achieve immortality (i.e., achieve god-like status in heaven), one must attain the Tao (Dao).  How does one attain the Tao?  By living a life with a peaceful, live-and-let-live attitude.  Do not kick against the pricks; do not try to swim up river; just go with the flow.  Be nice to everyone.  Don't try to change people.

6th Century BC;  Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama):
To escaped the cycle of karma and achieve Nirvanna, follow the right path!  How does one follow the right path?  Have right thinking, do right actions.  What are the right actions?

Avoid the Unwholesome Actions Do the Wholesome Actions
1. Taking life
2. Taking what is not given
3. Wrong use of the senses
4. Saying what is not true
5. Slandering
6. Cursing
7. Perpetuating rumors / idle talk
8. Covetousness
9. Malice
10. Entertaining the wrong view
 (and promulgating it)
Abstaining from 1-7 (to the left)

Being free of 8 & 9 (to the left)

Entertaining the right view
 (and promulgating it)

Photo of a painting in Leon's Bible (photo by Leon)
Original painting by Carl Heinrich Bloch
Entitled:  "The Sermon on the Mount"

1 A.D. - 33 A.D.;  Jesus of Nazareth  (the name "Jesus" is Aramaic) = (Hebrew name:  Joshua):

His overall message was one of love; (i.e., love thy neighbor as thyself).

Some will say that you have to believe in Jesus to be "saved".  That is a mistranslation or an error in the New Testament gospels.  What Jesus actually said was, "Believe me..."  {i.e., believe what I'm telling you, (do it), and be saved}.

Saved from what?  Saved from Hell?  No.  Saved from a life of depravity, saved from ignorance, saved from debauchery, saved from destruction, and saved from societal decay.

He taught that he came not to destroy the Law (of Moses), but to "fulfill" it (i.e., add unto it).  This implies that works are a necessary part of our Earthly (mortal) salvation.

What is the greatest commandment?  Love God, and then love thy neighbor as thyself.  Upon those two commandments hang all the Law and the prophets' teachings.  (Matthew 22: 35-40;  Mark 12: 28-34)

There are so many things that Jesus taught us to do.  Here are just some of them:

The Parable of the Sheep and the Goats ---

[31] When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
[32] And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
[33] And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
[34] Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
[35] For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
[36] Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
[37] Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
[38] When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
[39] Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
[40] And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
[41] Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
[42] For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
[43] I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
[44] Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
[45] Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
[46] And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
    (Matt. 25:31-46)

I could go on and on, but if you aren't convinced by now, you never will be.

SCIENCE (biology) teaches...

Science used to say that the brain exhibited only 4 levels of brain waves.  They were

Delta waves (0.5 to 3 Hz)

Delta Waves, the slowest but loudest brainwaves.  They are exhibited during dreamless sleep.

Theta waves (3 to 8 Hz)

Theta brainwaves, occur in dream-sleep and are also dominant in deep meditation.  They are exhibited when we fear or have nightmares.

Alpha waves (8 to 12 Hz)

Alpha brainwaves occur during quietly flowing thoughts, (i.e., passive learning; observation).

Beta waves (12 to 38 Hz)

Beta brainwaves are present in our normal waking state of consciousness.  (i.e., active learning, interactive participation).

BUT, now science tells us that there is another, higher-frequency brain wave:

Gamma waves (38 to 42 Hz)

Gamma brainwaves are the fastest of brain waves and relate to simultaneous processing of information from different brain areas

"Gamma brainwaves are the fastest of brain waves (high frequency, like a flute), and relate to simultaneous processing of information from different brain areas. It passes information rapidly, and as the most subtle of the brainwave frequencies, the mind has to be quiet to access it. Gamma was dismissed as 'spare brain noise' until researchers discovered it was highly active when in states of universal love, altruism, and the ‘higher virtues’. Gamma is also above the frequency of neuronal firing, so how it is generated remains a mystery. It is speculated that Gamma rhythms modulate perception and consciousness, and that a greater presence of Gamma relates to expanded consciousness and spiritual emergence."

Source:  http://www.brainworksneurotherapy.com/what-are-brainwaves

***Science proves that the way to raise your vibration is by loving others!***

If your spirit is vibrating at the higher/faster rate of gamma waves (love), your spirit will automatically be in a "heavenly" state when your spirit exits your body.  If you spirit is vibrating at the lower/slower rate of theta waves (fear), your spirit will automatically be in a "hellish" state when your spirit exits your body.  It's all science:  not religion.

CONCLUSION

That's why there are discrepancies in the NDE phenomenon.  The idea (or concept) that all people should have the same NDE experience is ludicrous.  We are all vibrating at different levels of consciousness.  It makes perfect sense that there are as many NDE experiences as there are experiencers.

Jesus of Nazareth taught that in his "Father's House" there were many mansions.  (Meaning, that in heaven there are many places of habitation).  Each mansion is at a different frequency, and we end up in the place (mansion) that matches our frequency at the time of death.

REAL HEAVEN or FAKE?
(Note:  That title is just bait, because in reality they are all real).
FOREWORD
Please read; before proceeding.

Question:  Are N.D.E.'s Real or Fake?

Answer:  Real.  They are all real experiences.

DISCLAIMERS

(1)  NDEs are real experiences!  (Assuming that people aren't lying about their experience).
(2)  ARE THERE FAKES?  LIES?  Are they out there?  I'm sure that there are people, who for whatever reason, claim that they have had an NDE, which they have not had or which they have embellished.  CAUTION is advised.  I deal with what I perceive to be REAL experiences.  However, I could be wrong.  Wouldn't be the first time.  Use your own discernment.
(3)  BE ESPECIALLY CAREFUL with people's interpretations of their NDEs or interpretations of other people's NDEs.  Sometimes, for example, the experiencer will think that they are conversing with Jesus, when that person did not identify himself thusly.
(4)  AND, LASTLY, WE NEED TO REALIZE that we have all made the a priori assumption that everything on the other side of the veil is divided into two mansions (i.e., 2 realms):  a good one (that we tend to call "heaven"), and bad one (that we tend to call "hell").  What I have learned over a decade of study into the NDE phenomena, is that it doesn't work that way.

"Well, how does it work?" you ask.

I reply:  "I don't know all the answers, but this (below) is what my current understanding is."

Near Death Experiences:
Are so-called
heaven and hell
REAL? or FAKE?
(Please keep in mind while you read on that ALL NDEs real spiritual experiences, but the heaven that one experiences may be REAL or FAKE)

This is Original Content (on Leon's Planet):

FOREWORD:

The following is NOT intended by this author to be 100% truth.  They are only observations and conclusions of this author based upon a decade of research (and his own experiences).

The first thing we need to do is eliminate the traditional labels of "heaven" and "hell" and start over from scratch, because it turns out that the afterlife is not at all like we've been told by religion.  Before I give my conclusions, let's look at some common aspects of NDEs.

1. Bright Light (Tunnel of light) vs. No bright light / tunnel.

Some people go through a tunnel of light.  Some people see a pinpoint of light that gets bigger and bigger (as they approach it).  Some people do not experience any such thing.

I won't lie to you.  This has been a point of discrepancy that has bothered me for some time.  But, as I get older and review more and more NDE accounts, I have come to understand that it really doesn't matter.  And, when I write that it doesn't matter, I'm not saying that it doesn't have a purpose, I'm just saying that it doesn't have to happen in order for the NDE to be a true and wonderful experience.  (I certainly didn't go through no tunnel in my NDLE; however I still consider it a true experience).

It has been suggested to me that the purpose of going through the light is for spiritual healing and revitalization;  and, of course, to be completely present in the moment with the Light (which is also Pure Love).  Perhaps some people don't need to experience that "healing".

2. LIFE REVIEW

NDE-ers quite frequently go through a life review with a being to guide them through it.  But, I don't feel that it is a requirement for the NDE.  I do believe that everyone will eventually have a life review, but certainly the "Other Side" knows that an NDE is just an NDE and not a permanent end to this life.  It is up to our "Higher Self" as to whether or not the life review is needed at that point or not.

3. LIGHT / LOVE

There are accounts of an immense and intense loving light, which love is described as being ineffable in the human tongues (beyond human description and understanding).

The message is always about love (i.e., loving one's fellow human beings).

God is Love.  (I John 4:8)

God is not judgmental or vengeful.  That doesn't mean that Hell doesn't exist.  Oh no!  It exists all right.  But, God doesn't send souls there.   It's all automatic.  There is a section somewhere on this page which answers the question as to why some people go to a hellish place.

vs. FEAR

I have identified two ways that FEAR is instilled, (when it occurs in the NDE); and the NDE may incorporate one or both methods:

(1) A being will speak harshly and reprimand the NDE-er.
(2) The NDE-er is frightened by a hellish experience in a place called "Hell" and then ultimately saved by a being pretending to be Jesus.

I question this being that pretends to be God, but is not full of love.

The true God would not do that.  God is love. (1John4:8)

4. Loving Loved-Ones

Not all NDE-ers see their loved ones, but of those that do, the loved ones always express ONLY LOVE.  There is no judgment.  Only love.

Why would your loved ones beat you?  -->>>>

vs. Un-loving (harshly judgmental) loved-ones
OR....  just get to see loved-ones (with no interaction).

I remember one NDE where the man saw a being that looked like his grandfather and that being started beating him with his cane.

Why?

5.  A Message of Love

Most NDE-ers come back with a message of love, but some do not.  The loving individuals in the afterlife almost always  tell people that it's love that counts.  All the success of the world doesn't mean anything unless you did it with love and spread love around the world.

vs.  A judgment of...

...you are doing it wrong.  The message is often a kind of wake-up call, that you need to get on the right track, which in its pure unadulterated essence is not a bad idea, but I'm not so sure that experiencers (like the ones above) are being entirely being put entirely back on the right track.  (But, that's just me).

My review of
Dannion Brinkley's NDE

Light at the end of the Tunnel?  Yes
Life review?  Yes
Light/Love?  Yes
Loved ones?  No.

Details:
He went through a tunnel and experienced a life review.
He met 13 beings of light (one of which was in charge). [1 + 12]
He saw crystal cities in heaven.
He was given deep understanding.  [Answers to all his questions].
He was given 13 prophecies.  All of which came true.
He was told that he had to go back.

You can see/listen to it on YouTube.

My review of
Don Piper's NDE

Tunnel?  No
Life review?  No
Light/Love?  No
Loved ones?  Yes, but no interaction.

Details:
He says that there was NO tunnel of light.
He was immediately in the spirit world surrounded by beings that looked like his loved-ones that had passed on before him.
He was shown a walled city as described in the Book of Revelation, with pearly gates.  He saw people going into the gates one by one.  He was in line to go in.  He interpreted the experience by his own religion (Christian), and claims that the way to get to heaven is by believing in Jesus, although he was never told that in the NDE.  As he was about to enter the gate in the city in "heaven", he was back in his body.

See/listen to it on YouTube.

NOTE:  This might be a positive experience, but I question why he experienced a walled city with gates.  This is not the usual NDE and it was interpreted through the lens of his Earthly religion.

My review of
Diane Sherman's NDE

Light at the end of the Tunnel?  Yes
Life review?  Yes
Light/Love?  Yes
Loved ones?  No

Details:
She went toward a pin-point of light.  (Not through a tunnel).
She met hooded beings in a row.  (How many????)
She goes on and on about how unconditionally loving the light was.
She was told (by the light) that she had to go back.

You can see/listen to it on YouTube.

My review of
Bill Weiss's OBE  "23 minutes in Hell"

(This doesn't really count as an NDE, because Bill was not diagnosed as "clinically dead".  Bill, himself, calls it an OBE "Out of Body Experience" and vision).

Tunnel? Not at first.  Then, yes (a tunnel that connected the hellish realm to heavenly one)
Life review? No
Light? Yes  Love?  No
Loved ones? No

Details:
Was suddenly pulled out of his body at 3AM.  Found himself in a prison cell.  It was unbearably hot, and he was very weak.  Saw reptilian beasts that tortured him.  He describes the tortures of hell.  He claims he was lifted up (by a being that was pretending to be Jesus) through a tunnel (which directly connected hell to heaven).  He met a very bright light being whom he called "Jesus".  He was frightened purposefully in Hell, and afterward he was told to tell people about Hell (because many people didn't believe in Hell).

You can see/listen to it on YouTube.

NOTE:  I'm a firm believer in Hellish realms, because I have been to one (and it was SO real).

The interesting thing is that he was a minister (and a "saved" minister at that).  My question is this:  Why do so many ministers (and very religious people) end up in Hellish realms?

My review of
Raymond Kinman's NDE

Light at the end of the Tunnel?  Yes
Life review?  I don't know.  (He was only 9 years old).
Light/Love?  YES!
Loved ones?  Yes (met his dog)

Details:
Went toward a pin-point of light.
Goes on about how loving the light was:  "Infinite Love".
Received a "download" which answered every question he'd every had (but doesn't remember everything).
Was told that our purpose here is to LOVE.
"Love is not just warm-fuzzies."  [Love is an action word.]
No judgment received from anyone there, only unconditional love.
Was introduced to "God" and Raymond describes "God" as an infinite number of points of light (of which he was one); all was connected.

You can see/listen to it on YouTube.

  RE:  Hellish NDEs
There are quite a few examples of people who have had NDEs (or NDLEs) where they go to a horrible place, which we, in English, tend to  label as "Hell."  I'm not going to put tons of examples here on my website. (There are just a few here).  You can look them up on Google or YouTube.  Invariably, those people who go to Hell, were living lives unbecoming of a human being at the time of their death.  Some were into illegal drugs and/or doing things that are just not right.  They did not love their fellow human beings.  They were very selfish.  Ultimately, I think it is selfishness that brings a person down (both literally and figuratively).  Selfishness leads to self-destruction.  It is kind of an oxymoron.  In most cases, the more one focuses only on the self, (which can be good if done correctly, and not to the exclusion of loving others), the more destructive to the self one becomes.  And ironically, the opposite is true as well.  The more one focuses on others, the more beneficial it is to the self (in the long run).
Did not the Nazarene say, "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it."
It is interesting that God gave us the "self" in order to experience what it is like to be separate; and yet, we are all connected.  It seems that the end goal is to enhance that connectiveness rather than inflate the self.  That's not to say that we should do self-flagellation nor that we should engage in self-degradation or self-depreciation.  No, no, no!  We are all an important part of the whole.  Everyone is important.  Everyone is valuable!

Life review?  Yes.
Light/Love?  Yes.
Loved ones?  Yes  (Grandma)

Details:
He saw his dead body.
Then, he went into the hall and sees a bright, warm light.
He walks to the end of the hall.
He went through the last door and saw his grandma.
Grandma helps him go through the life review.
Grandma only expressed love.  There was NO judgment.
Grandma said that he had a choice to stay or go back.

My review of
Nathan Wheeler's NDE

Light at the end of the tunnel?  No.
Life review?  No.
Light/Love?  No.
Loved ones? No.

Details:
There was no tunnel.  No family met him.  He just suddenly was there in the spirit realm and there were 4 beings there dressed in Roman-like robes.  They showed him around a town.  They stopped near a 60-70ft-tall building with a flat room.  There were pillars around the outside.  He never had a thought of Earth or his life on Earth.  The tallest being scolded Nathan.  The being is described as being not angry, but very stern, telling Nathan to "Get to work!"  Suddenly, a portal opened up below and Nathan was sucked down.  Then, he was back in his body.

You can see/listen to it on YouTube.

NOTE:  It is not clear what the being meant by "Get to work!"  This may be a case of putting the experience "back on track" to his/her true purpose for coming to Earth.  I don't know.

My review of
Susan Dayton's NDE

Light at the end of the tunnel?  Yes.
Life review?  Yes.
Light/Love?  Yes.
Loved ones?  I don't know.

1st NDE
She had a life review.

2nd NDE
A portal opened and she went through the portal, through a tunnel toward a light that was so intense and so beautiful, full of love.
Upon arriving in the light, she was given a choice to come back.
She chose to come back because her children were so young.

 (OBE = Out-of-Body Experience)

Light at the end of the tunnel?  No.
Life review?  Yes.
Light/Love?  Yes.
Loved ones?  No.

Details:
Paige got into drugs, and began to hear voices telling her to kill her family, including her daughter.  After 5 months, she quit all drug use and the voices stopped.  That night, she had her vision.
She felt "God's love".
Suddenly, she was in a prison cell.
No sense of time.  [That's eternity].
No sense of life.
She cried to God (Jesus) for help; and suddenly it was over.

My review of
Crystal McVea's NDE

Light at the end of the tunnel?  Yes!
Life review?  Yes.
Light/Love?  Yes!
Loved ones?  No.

Details:
She was in a tunnel of light, heading toward the light.
She says that words fall short of describing the beauty and "amazingness" of the light/love that was engulfing her.
She says that God's true self is LOVE.
She traveled with God the rest of the way down the tunnel.
She saw herself as a 3-year-old.
She asked to go back and was told that it was her choice.
She chose to go back.

You can see/listen to it on YouTube.

My review of
Carl's
(Surname unknown) OBE

Light at the end of the tunnel?  No.
Life review?  No.
Light/Love?  No.
Loved ones?  No.

Details:
Carl overdosed on drugs and alcohol.  He was immediately dragged down to hell by demons/devils.  He prayed to Jesus to save him.  And, a hand reached down and pulled him out of hell.  Then, he came to.  (You can see/listen to it on YouTube.)

My Commentary:  That is a typical saved-from-Hell-by-Jesus NDE/OBE.  I have seen/read many of similar NDEs/OBEs.  It is not that I don't believe in hell.  I do.  I have been there.  But, I caution the interpretation.
I personally believe that there are levels in Hell, based upon one's frequency.  I went to one of those levels of hell.  But, I do not believe that God sent me there.  We send ourselves there, by lowering our vibrations.  It might be a kind of purgatory (a place to be purged of our sins), but the bottom line is this: it's our choice.

P.S.
Can Jesus (if we ask) pull us out of Hellish realms?  I would say, "Sure he can!"  But, that is not to be interpreted as "our faith alone will save us from Hell".  That's not how it works.

My review of
Reinee Pasarow's NDE

Light at the end of the tunnel?  Yes!
Life review?  Yes!
Light/Love?  Yes!
Loved ones?  Yes!

Details:
She was raised Christian, but chose B'hai faith prior to her NDE.
When she left her body, she noticed that she was a sphere of energy.  She went UP, and up, and up, and up, until she could see the Earth, but with spiritual eyes, she could see that the Earth was an organic, living being.  She saw everything upon the Earth.  She saw that nothing existed without music/song.  She saw that there was a light that permeated all.  She moved toward the light, through a tunnel-like existence.  What moved her was her LOVE!  She through her love, moved toward the LOVE of all loves.  The quicker and closer she moved toward the Light/Love, the more LOVE she felt.  Finally, she merged with her uncle's light.  She was instantly aware of all he was and knew.

While that was a joyous union, she longed to move toward the Love of all loves.  She moved "through" her uncle and entered a sea of Light and Love.  She moved toward the "heart" or "sun" in the midst of the sea of light/love.  She merged with that sea of light/love and stopped being an individual.  Then, her consciousness came back together.

After that, she had an accounting of her life.  Her life review was presided over by a great being (but he made no judgments).
What was more important than the choices that she made was the motivation behind those choices/actions.
She came to understand that a pure and loving action was more important than any other achievement that she could have achieved in the physical plane of existence.

She was not judged outside herself.  She judged herself by understanding that it was love that brought her into existence, and made everything possible; and by understanding that acts of love were the greatest acts, and any act of selfishness or cruelty was the most destructive.

Then, she was given an answer to a question of her heart.  She wanted to know about the progression of the human race, and where it was going/heading.  She was shown holographically the evolution of the human race from the beginning until some time in the future.  With reference to the future, she saw a group of people called "The Just" working for a better, more spiritual (not religious), loving future.  Simultaneously, she saw great chaos and destruction, hate, and war.  The world became polarized thusly.  The HOPE of mankind was a white, marble building on the Mediterranean, representing the "religion" of "The Just".

Then, she was shown a kingdom of light.  She saw many people in that kingdom learning and working.  She simultaneously felt great joy in what she was seeing.  She wanted to enter the kingdom, but the being who was conducting her around, said, "It is not time."

Then, she was catapulted down a rainbow tunnel of light.  She was at the scene of her dead body.  She was being coaxed back toward her body by beings.

You can see/listen to it on YouTube.

My review of
Howard Storm's NDE

Light at the end of the Tunnel? No.
Life review? Yes.
Light/Love? Yes.
Loved ones? No.

Details:
Goes out of his body and sees his body.
He was coaxed out into the hallway by fuzzy humanoid beings in hospital garb.  He was told to follow them, which he did for a long distance.  Then, he was tortured by 100s, possibly 1000s of beings.
Then he was left on the floor, in pain.  He heard his own voice telling him to pray to God.  [That's interesting!]
[He was an atheist], so he said, "I don't believe in God."
But, eventually, he did try to pray, and every time he mentioned the name of God, the terrible beings around him couldn't stand it.  [The beings seemed to be in terrible pain at the mere mention of God.]  Then, he remembered a time when he was a little kid singing, "Jesus loves me" song.  He called out to Jesus, "Jesus please save me!"
The room got bright (from above).
The being (Jesus) in the light picks him up and all the wounds were healed.  Then, they hugged.  He felt loved.
Then, he had a life review and judgments were made.  "That was good," and "That was bad."
Lastly, he was sent back to his body.

You can see/listen to it on YouTube.

Comment:  I'm so sorry that Howard had to go through that experience.  I didn't go into detail on the horrible things that the demons did to Howard.

Many people will discount his experience.  I believe it was a real experience; but why did it happen?

I'm not so sure that we can answer that question.

My suspicion was that he was not in a "good place" mentally and spiritually when he passed into the "other side".

From my own experiences (recounted above), I've learned that being selfish brings one "down" into lower vibrational frequencies, where such beings dwell.  And contrariwise, when one is loving (less selfish) and helping others it raises one's vibrational frequency, and one can therefore avoid such a "place" or "realm".

NOTES:
(1)  Love is an action word.  Love requires that you serve others.
(2)  Love is not conditional.
(3)  Love is not selective.  You cannot love only those who love you.  Did no the Nazarene say, "Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye?"
(4)  Love is longsuffering.  CAVEAT: There may be times when we have to separate ourselves from a negative person who is bringing us down.  Love does not mean being unwise.  Wisdom says that if someone is bringing us down, we need to get away from that person.  We still love that person, but we do not need to subject ourselves to their negativity.

Light at the end of the tunnel?  Kind of... (see below)
Life review? Yes.
Light?  No. /  Love?  Yes.
Loved ones?  Yes.

Details:
As she was dying she felt no pain and felt that she was being "held".  Then, she was out of her body, and immediately she was walking on a path.  (My experience was similar.  I was on a path--walking.  I think this might count as a kind of "tunnel" experience.)

Then, she became surrounded by beings that were overjoyed to see her and shared a mutual love.  I don't know if she actually recognized anyone, but they loved her dearly.  She followed them to a land of beauty and color.
After a while, they told her that she had to go back; that she had more work to do.

You can see/listen to it on YouTube.

Comment:  This one is not a typical NDE.  I'm not sure how to categorize this one.  For instance, there was NO FEAR;  So, it was a good NDE, but I'm not sure she went all the way to "heaven".  It was as if she was at a mid-way station between our two realms.  Bottom-line is I like it!

My review of
John Ramirez's  Dream-Vision

***(This was not an NDE.)***

Light at the end of tunnel?  No.
Life review?  No.
Light/Love?  No.
Loved ones?  No.

Details:
John was a devil-worshipper.  Then, he was introduced to Christianity/Jesus.  He was torn between the two religions.  So, one night he prayed to Jesus and said, "If you are more powerful than my god [the Devil], you let me know or leave me alone."
That night he had a dream.
He was on a train.  When the doors opened, he was in hell.  The Devil chastised him, and said, "I will keep you here, and you will never wake up."
Suddenly, a cross appeared in his hand and the Devil seemed to be helpless at the sight of the cross.  Then, John was delivered from hell, and he awoke.

You can see/listen to it on YouTube.

Comment:
Clearly Jesus is more powerful than the Devil.
I'm a firm believer in Jesus.  He was a real person and is a real spirit of love and light.

But, I caution people to not misinterpret this experience.  Jesus doesn't save us because of our faith in Him.  He saves us by us following His example.

Light at the end of the tunnel?  Yes!
Life review?  Yes!
Light/Love?  Yes!
Loved ones?  No.

Erica had the most amazing life review I have ever encountered and I have listened to or read hundreds of NDEs collectively.

She actually had 2 life reviews.

I don't want to spoil it for you.  It would be better if you listen to her tell her own story.  She got to wear God's glasses.

Epilogue:

Please notice how most of the experiences above aren't even true NDEs because the experiencers weren't actually clinically dead.  Some were dead, but there is a reason why people end up in Hell.

God doesn't send them there, And it is not based upon some judgment.  No, as I mentioned above, it is automatic.  We automatically end up where we are supposed to end up based upon our vibrations (our frequencies).  If we have high frequencies (love, joy, gratitude), we end up in the higher realms.  If we have lower frequencies (selfishness, fear, hate, depression), we end up in the lower frequencies with other of the same or similar frequency.

See my personal OBE experience (above).  I ended up with others of the same frequencies as myself.  Everyone in that realm were selfish.

Conclusions & Comments
(Note:  This is my opinion)

OF HEAVEN & HELL
In this author's opinion, all NDEs are real and true experiences, but we need to be careful not to attribute our limited Earthly understandings to things spiritual.  If NDEs have taught us one thing, it should be this...

There are many mansions in the afterlife.

For all we know, the number of so-called "mansions" (realms) may be infinite in number, (although I find that hard to comprehend).  Certainly, there are as many mansions as there needs to be (let's leave it at that).

Also, no two NDEs are exactly alike.  And, we need to be careful in thinking that they hold all the answers that we seek.  In fact, they provide as many questions as they do answers.  And, speaking of questions, I have quite a few:

QUESTIONS THAT I STILL HAVE:

(1)  Why Do Devils Even Exist?
From the negative NDEs, we learn that there are nefarious beings in the spirit realm.  Apparently, they are filled with hatred toward us.  Why?  Why would they hate us so much?  What did we do to them?  Why do they work against us, in our goal toward love, peace, and joy?  Do they have a "beef" (problem) with God, or us, or both?  Why are they so hell-bent on destroying God's creation?  Is it a power struggle?  Is it sour grapes?  What do they get out of it?  Revenge for some ill done to them?  [  Contact me  ].

(2)  Why Are We Here?
Why do we even come here (to 3-D reality or the physical realm)?  Some say it merely God wanting to experience what separateness feels like (as the New-Agers tell us)?  Some say we are here to experience/learn.  Some say it is a virtual game {Is this some sort of sick (masochistic) game that we willingly participate in?}  Some say that we have to experience everything so that we can be like God.  Others question the need to learn to love, because we are LOVE (because God is Love and we are fractals of God);  and, therefore we shouldn't need to learn to love.

I don't know what to believe!  [  Contact me  ].

(3)  Why are the Pastors in Hell?
Why do many pastors go to hell in their NDEs?  If they are "saved" as they claim, why do a majority of them end up in Hell?  Often, Jesus comes to save them from Hell when they call out Jesus' name.  This contradicts their own teachings.  In the mainstream Christian religion, there is no "getting saved" after death.  They claim that everyone has to "get saved" in this life.  [  Contact me  ].  Post Script:  I actually know one pastor who left his religion (and his job as pastor) because of NDEs and his realization that the religion didn't "jive" with what the NDEs taught.

(4)  Why do most people not remember their NDE?
That's a great question!  I'm personally convinced that EVERYONE who dies has an NDE, but most (who come back) don't remember them?  Why not?  [  Contact me  ].
